On behalf of the Southern African Plant Breeding Association (SAPBA) I, Driaan Bresler (SAPBA President), have the pleasure to announce the 13th SAPBA symposium to be held from March 8th -11th, 2020, at the Future Africa Campus, University of Pretoria, a place where Africa's leading scientists and scholars from across the world and from a broad range of disciplines will come together to leverage the benefits of transdisciplinary research to address the grand challenges that face Africa and the world.
The past decade has seen a revolution in genotyping creating large sets of data which has called for more accurate and precise phenotyping strategies. The multidisciplinary nature of the phenomics and the need for reliable, automatic and high-throughput phenotyping platforms gave rise to the 2020 SAPBA symposium theme of "Innovating together -Plant Breeding in the 4th Industrial revolution".
